When importing into a Metric or Lists, this option controls how Access Rights are applied to Members who have the Define Application Security permission.

What does the Apply Access Rights to Admins Importing data do?

This setting only impacts imports that are run by Members with the Define Application Security permission. All other Members always have Access Rights applied to their imports.

Access Rights are always applied when Members without Define Application Security permission, this means they can only import into Lists and Metrics that they have Write permission on

For example, if a Member tries to import into a Metric with the Country dimension, and they only have Write access on Ireland, they can only import into Ireland. They are not able to import into other countries.

If a Member has the Define Application Security permission, by default, they do not have Access Rights applied to their import. This means they can import data into parts of a Metric or List, that they might not have Write permissions for. For example, if a Member with Define Application Security, imports into a Metric with the Country dimension, and they only have Write access on Ireland, they are able to import into all other countries.

There is exception when you use this in Scenarios. Here, we always apply Access right on all Members.

This setting allows you to apply Access Rights to Members with the Define Application Security so they are only able to import into areas of Lists and Metrics that they have Write permission on.

There is a potential for imports with this setting toggled on to have a slight impact in performance because the Access Rights need to be checked before the import is completed.
