From a reporting standpoint, it looks odd to show cells with no values as blank. When putting together a Board report, I would always ensure that nil values show as zero or dash. Can the display of blank cells be considered, same as we have the option within formatting to show as 0 or -?

On the other side, with multidemnsionality, you could end up with a lot of intersections that could be irrelevant to your report. So showing all blank values can overload your view, and decrease the readability of the data that have value and matters.
That said, if you scope well your formula, you can totally return zero if you don’t have data, it’s just not best practice as it densifies the block and can slow down your whole model.
Another workaround would be to use conditional formatting on empty cells. This would not impact the model performance.
Below, I just grayed out the empty cells.
But I think the idea of having an option on how to render/format empty cells is a great idea! I encourage you to submit it!
