When you’re working with Calculated Items and Show Values As within a Table or Metric, you can view and reorder their order in the Calculations tab in the Configuration Data pane.

To view the current order of your calculations, do one of the following:

  • Click Pivot, and in the Configure Data panel click Calculations.
  • Click the arrow on a Calculated Item or Show Values As header, and select Define calculations priority from the menu.
  • Right-click a Calculated Item cell value, and select Define calculations priority from the menu.

Now that you’ve opened the Calculations tab, let’s understand the default display order of your list of calculations:

  • Show Values As are performed before Calculated Items.
  • Calculated Items in rows are performed before Calculated Items in columns.
  • In the same axis, calculations for outer Dimension Calculated Items are performed before those for inner Dimension Calculated Items.
  • Within the same row or column, your Calculated Items are performed alphabetically.

If you make no changes in the Calculations tab, Pigment uses the default order described above. Any change made in the Pivot tab will also be reflected in the Calculations tab.

To reorder your current sequence of calculations, you drag and drop each Calculated Item to the required position in the list. The order in which you reorder your Calculated Items and Show Values As calculations affects the order in which they are calculated. Take a look:

  1. The calculation located at the end of the list is performed first.
  2. The calculation immediately above it is performed next.
  3. The sequence of calculations continues to the calculation at the top of the list, which is performed last.

If you make changes in the Calculations tab, then these changes will define the new order of your Calculated Items and your Show Values As calculations and the Reset to default priority button is displayed. Any change made in the Pivot tab won’t be reflected in the Calculations tab until the calculations priority are not reset to their default order. If at any point you want to restore your list of calculations to default order, you can click Reset to default priority.
