This is the first post in our new series all about working in the EPM field

Introduction:
Hello Pigmenteers! My name is Thư (@Thu Mai in the community), I'm based in Vietnam and I’m currently working as an EPM Consultant at Keyrus. Keyrus is a global consultancy that develops data and digital solutions for performance management. Combining business and technical expertise, we help companies uncover the most value possible from data while optimizing digital strategy and customer experience. What advice do you have for someone who is just starting out in the EPM field?

Firstly, never stop learning. If you find motivation from learning and it energises you, then EPM consulting is a great career choice. In this career you have to learn lots of different tools, and also keep up with the latest news and changes that those tools have. Every week Pigment sends me a little notification on the gift box icon, and honestly if you don’t keep up with that it can become awkward when your clients suddenly know more than you about new features, so in the consulting field, keeping up with change is a must.

Secondly, you have to put a lot of trust in yourself and not be afraid of challenges. In EPM consulting, challenges come from not only the platform, but also the nature of each business use case, plus sometimes you have specific project nuances or challenges on top of that. At the end of the day, you have to trust in yourself that you’ll be able to find a solution. However, you are not alone, you always have communities like Pigment Community and Pigment Support Team to rely on whenever you have tricky platform and design related challenges!

Thirdly, it’s important to keep your work and life balanced. In consulting things can be pretty stressful and demanding, you have to be constantly learning and also working to tackle specific problems. Keeping your mind and body healthy is very important to maintain your professional side.

Overall I like EPM Consulting and I enjoy my work a lot! Maybe in the next 10 or 15 years though I might have completely different advice for you. Hope to connect with more talented people in our community and hear more stories about the EPM industry as well!
