Hi,

I am trying to set a logic where there are 2 merit cycles, I want to us Previous(year) but also incorporate that cycle 2 is equal to cycle one and editable in case it isn’t.

Hi @Karin Tauber ,

Thanks for your question!

Here’s how the setup works so Cycle 1 carries forward automatically, and Cycle 2 defaults to Cycle 1 but stays editable:

Step 1: Combined dimension
Cycles Year list with items like FY25 – Cycle 1, FY25 – Cycle 2, etc.

Step 2: Input metric
All inputs are made here by Cycles Year. Cycle 1 carries forward automatically, and Cycle 2 defaults to Cycle 1 but remains editable.
Formula: previous('Cycles Year')

Step 3: Output view
This is a calculated view reshaped into the familiar Year × Cycle layout. It reflects the inputs but should not be transformed by overrides.

This way, you only need one input metric while still getting automatic defaults for Cycle 1 and flexibility for Cycle 2.

Let us know if you’d like more details on setting up the combined dimension or configuring the output view. We’d be happy to walk you through it! 😊
