Removing Dimension without Impacting Manual Inputs on Metrics

Is there any way to remove a dimension without impacting manual inputs on metrics? 

 

We built our application with nearly every metric using a “version” dimension in order to do budget v forecast and various other scenario planning. With the introduction of scenarios & snapshots, we no longer need to have this additional dimension on every metric. 

 

If, for example, I removed all values on the version dimension list except for our forecast which we use to house all of our manual inputs, could I remove the version dimension and have those values be retained on all of the metrics that leveraged the version dimension? If not, is the only solution to re-input every manual input & manual override across every metric that used that dimension?

Removing a dimension from a metric will impact the structure of the metric and the way the data is aggregated. If you want to retain the values, you might need to re-input the manual inputs and overrides for each metric that used the version dimension. There is a way for changing metrics structure without losing data and for more information on that feel free to refer to this article here:
