Sorting values in table with multiple dims

Hi Alina, 

It’s bit tricky to visualize without seeing how you’ve laid out the data, but I can offer some tips. 

If by “traditional Sorting function” you mean creating a filter or filter stack via the Filter icon in the menu bar, it’s possible to also sort each dimension individually by simply right clicking on a column heading and selecting “Sort” in the drop-down menu. See example below.

That will allow you to sort by the properties of the selected Dimension without it needing to “stack”or have a cascading filtering that happens when applying a filter to the whole table.

I can’t share a screenshot from the model but here is an example in excel. Amount is a metric dimensioned by Country, client and opportunity:

As you can see, the opportunities are unique. If I want to sort the metric amount, it will stay as it is because the amount is sorted within the last dimension, which is opportunity (has no effect in our case).

What I want to see instead is 

Is it possible to do it this way?
