Hi Pigment,

I shared with our team the new dimension mapping capability but they can't use it, what access rights and permissions they should have in order to do it?

Thank you,
Omer.

Hi @Omer Nahum ,

Yes, to add a pivot using the mapping metric, they will need the Configure Blocks permission.
We have updated the Community Article below with more information about the permission.

Hi @Omer Nahum ,

Can you check if you have the access for the source dimension (which you need to add in the view) and if you have the access for the dimension’s property as well. Also, you need to ensure that you can access the mapping metric.
In order to check the access rights applied on a metric, refer below image:

  • Open the metric
  • From top-right, click on settings icon and then choose ‘Access Rights’ from the dialog box

Similarly, check the access rights on the dimension’s property (according to which two dimensions are related) : Refer 2nd Image

Access Rights on a metric

Role’s Permissions (Applicable for all the metrics/tables/blocks in the application)

So it means that only Admin and users that have metric edit permissions (configure blocks) can use the new “Map a Dimension to the View” capability?

Thanks for your response, Gabriel!

Can you explain why the new update is only available for users with the "Configure Blocks permission"? Our FP&A Team has a lot of users in Pigment who aren’t part of the Admin group or builders. We don’t want them to change any metrics, but we’d like them to create new views for their own use. This update would be really helpful for them because I see new dimension mapping as part of the view's design, not the metric structure.

Are there plans to change this in the future? Specifically, will you split the Configure Blocks permission into more detailed options so we can have different combinations of builders instead of just an all-or-nothing approach?

Thanks,

Omer.

Hi @Omer Nahum,

Would you mind raising a ticket with us? I’ve been doing some tests on the permission and I want to check internally if that is really the case.
You can do it from here: https://support.pigment.com/en/support/tickets/new
Thanks!
